History
Alpha Pi, a local sorority, was begun in 1981 by five collegians who then founded Pi Alpha Chapter of AOII. When the chapter was installed by International President Virginia (Ginger) Anne Banks (Pi Kappa Chapter, University of Texas at Austin), there were 24 charter members. Adhering to its chapter submotto "most honorable sisterhood" the chapter strives for excellence while maintaining strong bonds of sisterhood and love. Pi Alpha has grown to an incredible, diverse chapter in the last 30 years. The chapter has moved into UofL's Community Park Greek Suites, grown to over 100 members, and continues to grow as the University grows. Today, AOII is one of seven NPC sororities at UofL. Sisters can be found working in leadership positions on campus, studying hard in Ekstrom Library, grabbing lunch together in the SAC, or just hanging out and watching a movie in the suite. Pi Alpha has most recently received the honors of First Place in the Greek Sing Competition, and a Sorority of Excellence Award from UofL's Panhellenic.
