FAQs

Who is invited to attend Camp AOII?

Camp AOII is an event experience designed just for emerging leaders of AOII collegiate chapters. Camp AOII focuses on making new connections and developing leadership skills that can be used in AOII, on-campus, and beyond. Limited spaces are available, but spots will be reserved for each chapter to send at least one emerging leader to participate

This experience is designed for emerging leaders, attendees should be members who do not currently serve in an Executive Team role. Ideal candidates are typically first- or second-year members who demonstrate strong leadership potential, show a desire for personal and organizational growth, and are likely to serve in future chapter leadership roles

When and where will Camp AOII be held?

Camp AOII will be held at a chapter housing facility at the University of Georgian in Athens, GA, where attendees will live and learn together for the duration of the session. We will be hosting three sessions in 2026 during the following dates:

  • Session 1: May 28-31
  • Session 2: June 4-7
  • Session 3: July 9-12

What can attendees expect at Camp AOII?

Camp AOII will focus on making new connections and developing leadership skills that can be used in AOII, on-campus, and beyond. Facilitators and participants will live and learn together in a chapter house at the University of Indiana for the duration of the session.

Participants can expect to meet and engage with AOIIs from across the continent, learn through discussions and activities in large- and small-group settings, and participate actively throughout the Camp AOII experience. Camp AOII attendees will be assigned a small group – called your Campfire Crew – and a facilitator, with whom you will meet, discuss, learn, and debrief several times during Camp AOII. You’ll also have opportunities to work with and learn from other attendees during general sessions, which are centered around the AOII Ends: Leadership, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Sense of Belonging, Service, and Ambition.

Just as with summer camp, we hope you come to Camp AOII excited to meet new friends, have fun, and participate actively with your AOII sisters!

How do we identify and select our chapter’s emerging leader?

Chapter Executive Teams, in partnership with the Chapter Advisor, should identify and select the chapter’s Camp AOII attendee(s). Because Camp AOII is designed for emerging leaders, attendees should be members who do not currently serve in an Executive Team role. Ideal candidates are typically first- or second-year members who demonstrate strong leadership potential, show a desire for personal and organizational growth, and are likely to serve in future chapter leadership roles.

To select your emerging leader, consider the following:

  • Identifying potential emerging leaders Share information about this opportunity during chapter meetings and new member meetings, and follow up through regular chapter communication channels. Encourage interested first- or second-year members to apply through a brief application or essay. Officers — including those involved in the New Member Experience — and advisors may also conduct individual outreach to members who would be strong candidates for Camp AOII.
  • Selecting the chapter’s emerging leader: The Executive Team, with approval from the Chapter Advisor, may select the chapter’s emerging leader, or The Executive Team and Chapter Advisor may review applicant materials and bring top candidates to a chapter vote.
  • Suggested Application Questions: Why do you want to attend Camp AOII? What do you hope to get out of the experience? What qualifies you as an emerging leader and why should you be the representative of our chapter?

Please reach out to your Assistant Director of Collegiate Experience if you need assistance with this process.
