Featured AOII Authors

Megan Davies, Alpha Chi (Western Kentucky U), LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor and former nonprofit leader whose work centers on helping people navigate transition, grief, and meaning. After a successful career in fundraising and organizational leadership, she followed a calling into clinical mental health counseling, where she now works primarily with women leaders who carry extraordinary responsibility, often in silence. Meagan brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work, grounded in the belief that healing and leadership are inseparable.

Her book, Miss You Already, is not just the story of its co-authors’ friendship and their journey navigating life after Staci’s cancer diagnosis; it is also a guide for anyone experiencing anticipatory grief and struggling to cope. Featuring journaling exercises, stories of others as they care for sick parents or try to save a failing marriage, and mental health resources, this book combines real-life advice and examples with the science behind anticipatory grief.

Joy A. Smith, Omicron (U of Tennessee), is a historical romance author whose lifelong love of reading and storytelling has blossomed into a successful writing career. Publishing under the pen name Joy Allyson, she has authored four novels, including Whiskey Love, Whiskey Secrets, Tamari Island, and An Unfortunate Mésalliance. Her work has earned multiple honors, including Whiskey Secrets being named the top Historical Romance of 2024 by NN Light’s Book Heaven. A lifelong AOII, Joy treasures the friendships and sisterhood she found at Omicron and continues to be an active member of the Nashville Area Alumnae Chapter, where she has connected with fellow authors and creative sisters. Her fifth novel, Whiskey Victory, is currently in progress. Read the full profile of her in the Fall 2025 issue of To Dragma.
