About Alpha Omicron Pi

Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) has been a pillar in the Greek Life community since 1897 when four particularly amazing women made a pledge to each other to maintain a friendship for a lifetime. Once their initial pledge to each other was declared, the four initiated their first new member into the Alpha Chapter of AOII.

Founded in 1897 at Barnard College, we have grown from one chapter to over 140 on an international scale.  While consistently upholding the Object of the Fraternity we operate Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity, Inc. simultaneously with our Culture Principles:

Why the Executive Director with AOII

The Executive Director serves both the Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity and Alpha Omicron Pi Properties. In this capacity, the Executive Director partners with the Executive Board and the Properties Board in formulating and setting policy; leads volunteers and staff to develop and implement strategic plans; and manages the daily operations of the organization. In addition, this position works collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve organizational goals that enhance the collegiate and alumnae experiences of its members. The Executive Director is key in successfully operating Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity, Inc. through the Carver Method of Policy Governance.

The Executive Director must be able to demonstrate:

  • Active listening and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to easily engage others in positive dialogue one-on-one or in a group setting, and at many different levels
  • High-level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to think and act independently and the ability to work individually or as a member of a team
  • Skills at prioritizing duties, working under time constraints, handling multiple tasks and working independently while remaining flexible to changing priorities and assignments
  • Member-centric focus, by providing efficient and courteous services to all AOII stakeholders
  • Skills at facilitating trainings, meetings and/or conference calls
  • Skills at effectively communicating critical information
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Collaboration skills with AOII Foundation Executive Director, Executive Board and other NPC group peers
  • Foundational knowledge regarding the Carver Method of Policy Governance
  • Understanding of fiduciary responsibility, developing budgets, expense management, auditing and insurance
  • Innovation surrounding the creation, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies

Requirements

  • Membership in a national/international Greek letter organization required; membership in Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity strongly preferred
  • B.A. or B.S. degree required; advanced degree in business, management, or higher education preferred
  • Experience in management and leadership of a diverse group of professional staff and volunteers required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management and supervision in an association or not-for-profit setting, higher education, or a related field required; 10 years of such experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in leading an organization to new levels of success through effective strategies and programs, team building, and thoughtful operational management required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Willingness and availability to travel extensively required

Working Conditions

  • Office setting based in Brentwood, TN
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on the computer
  • Must be able to lift up-to 15 pounds at times
