Alpha Omicron Pi is so excited to celebrate women’s health with our 4th Annual Women’s Health Week! Throughout the week of May 10-16, AOII will be hosting amazing health professionals to discuss different facets of women’s health. Check out the themes and topics for each day, and please join us for Women’s Health Week 2020!

Dr. Shokooh Miry, Psychologist

Dr. Shokooh Miry is a psychologist in practice in San Francisco, California. She serves as Commissioner on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women.

Dr. Miry attended UC Berkeley and Stanford University. She was honored to complete her training at the Stanford Hospital Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Miry specializes in evidence-based treatment, and has extensive research and clinical experience working with mood, anxiety, trauma, and eating disturbances as well as women’s mental health.

In her role as San Francisco Commissioner on the Status of Women, Dr. Miry oversees vital work in advancing women’s human rights, including conducting gender analysis, identifying areas of gender inequity, and managing a flagship grants program on the prevention and treatment of violence against women—funding 24 different community organizations addressing
domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Dr. Miry was initiated into the Sigma Chapter of AOII, at UC Berkeley. She is Chair of the
Nominating Trustees and serves on the Rituals, Tradition & Jewelry (RT&J) Committee.

Meagan R. Davies is a therapist focused on working with and empowering women to be the best version of themselves. Davies works exclusively with women and the unique challenges they face trying to balance work, relationships, family, and professional obligations. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NBCC) with specialized training in the field of maternal mental. Prior to becoming a therapist, she had two successful careers, one in marketing, and a second as a nonprofit executive. The last 15 years of her career were spent in the “C” Suite coaching and developing hundreds of employees, with a focus on female leadership. She was also responsible for up $100 million in revenue annually. 

Meagan is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia. In addition to education and memberships, she holds certifications in Change Management and Executive Leadership from Cornell University. She earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Mercer University.

Davies is Secretary of the National Board of the AOII Foundation, 2014 graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Program Chair Elect of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2021, and Executive Committee of the Leadership Atlanta Board.

Dr. Jennifer Lee is a Board-certified Dermatologist and the Founder and Medical Director of REN Dermatology & Laser Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She is originally from Maryland where she attended University of Maryland and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. At University of Maryland, she received the full merit-based Francis Scott Key Scholarship, and won the Sally Sterling Byrd award (for the top graduating female student).

Dr. Lee graduated from Harvard Medical School, where she was inducted into the Aesculapian Society. She has also been on faculty at Harvard Medical School and Vanderbilt Medical Center in the Departments of Dermatology.

In 2013, she founded REN Dermatology & Laser Center, a comprehensive medical and cosmetic skincare center. As a Dermatologist, Dr. Lee specializes in treating Acne, Skin cancer, eczema, psoriasis as well as performing Botox, Laser and other aesthetic procedures.

Dr. Lee has received numerous honors and awards including:

  • “Teacher of the Year”, Vanderbilt Medical Center Department of Dermatology
  • “40 under 40”, Nashville Business Journal
  • “Nashville’s Most Beautiful People”, Nashville Lifestyles magazine

She is the Dermatology consultant for USANA Health Sciences and helped launch the new global skincare line CELAVIVE in Beijing and Shanghai in September 2018.

In 2011, Dr. Lee established the Tennessee TERP Scholarship, which awards an annual scholarship to a student from Tennessee attending the University of Maryland.

Dr. Holmes is a graduate of The Medical College of Georgia. As an Ob-Gyn, Melisa joined the faculty at the Medical University of S.C. (MUSC) where she held joint appointments in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics. She served as director of the MUSC Teen Clinic and created a clinic for sexual assault survivors. As a nationally recognized advocate for adolescent health, she has served on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Committee on Adolescent Health Care and worked with National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. She is on the Board of Directors for the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and serves on the Advisory Board for Amaze.org, a global sexuality education project. In addition to co-authoring the Girlology series of books, she has written numerous scientific papers and textbook chapters as well as articles and guest blogs. As a passionate teacher for her patients, Dr. Holmes received a national award from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists for patient education. As an excellent clinician respected by her peers, she was also named among the Best Doctors in America.

Emma Rice is an alumna of Beta Zeta Chapter at Kennesaw State University, and served as Chapter President, VP of Finance, and Assistant VP of Membership Recruitment during her time as a collegiate member. With a B.A. in English and a minor in professional writing, Emma has explored professional opportunities in the publishing industry, working with both magazines and books as a writer and editor. Because of her desire to continue learning, she’s just completed her yoga teacher training in Vinyasa yoga, gaining her 200-hour registered yoga teacher certification. Aiming to help lead and teach others, Emma uses her creativity to produce yoga classes that promote mental, physical, and spiritual healing. She is learning to incorporate her yoga teaching into many aspects of her life to benefit herself and others by finding and preserving peace and happiness.

A southern California native, Ailis Garcia is a positive psychology speaker and the founder of the women’s wellness community, The Strong Movement®. Known for her genuine and down-to-earth personality and positive attitude, Ailis inspires others to be their best. She speaks to female college students and sorority women across the country on confidence, healthy living, positive psychology and the science of well-being. She loves to work with sorority chapters helping women dream big and support each other with her Strong Girl Workshops + Workouts. Ailis is a graduate of the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and also earned her Master of Applied Positive Psychology Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Ailis is proud of her Cuban heritage, and enjoys drinking a cup of coffee, or “un cafecito” with her fiance, family and friends. She enjoys reading, traveling, hiking and practicing yoga.

Rebecca Dattola is a registered and licensed dietitian with nearly 10 years of experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics. She earned her Bachelor’s at West Virginia University before completing her dietetic internship at Mount Carmel College of Nursing and eventually earning her Master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Throughout her career she has worked mostly in the clinical setting but also has experience working with undergraduate students and dietetic interns. She is currently working as a Clinical Nutrition coordinator for Ruby Memorial Hospital at West Virginia University. She believes in providing evidence-based care focused on each individual’s lifestyle, preferences, and needs. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and trying new fitness adventures. She resides in Morgantown, WV and is an initiate of Sigma Alpha chapter.

Kylie Kaiser is the owner of Kylie UpLifts Fitness, LLC, which offers Online Fitness Coaching. She specializes in helping women achieve their goals and live healthier lifestyles at a pace that lessens the overwhelm, eliminates the misinformation, and educates them along the way so that they can obtain the results they desire and keep them forever. Kylie’s approach is different from other “trendy” dieting methods out there, as she encourages women to find balance and moderation and build strength rather than focusing on restriction and the scale.

Kylie is certified in personal training and sports nutrition through The International Sports Sciences Association, and began her in-person training career in January 2018. At this time, she launched Kylie UpLifts as well and began taking on a small number of online clients. Over the course of a year, she was able to grow a large enough clientele to take her business entirely online, where she is able to reach and impact more women at a time.
