Alpha Omicron Pi Founders’ Day Now Officially Celebrated On January 2

in General News
AOII Founders

The AOII Executive Board voted unanimously to amend AOII Standing Rule 14, Section 2, clarifying the official observance of AOII Founders’ Day as January 2, rather than December 8. The Fraternity will now celebrate Founders’ Day on our actual founding date beginning January 2, 2021.

In 1912 Council voted to move the observance date to Stella’s birthday because many felt January 2 was inconvenient due to holiday and school schedules. However, chapters traditionally celebrate local Founders’ Days on dates ranging between November and March rather than specifically on December 8. The use of the two dates, especially as one is in December of one year and the second is in January of the next year, causes constant confusion.

Our hope is that this change will alleviate confusion and streamline communication for all AOIIs and other constituents. Join us in celebrating our 124th Founders’ Day on January 2, 2021!
