Serving Alpha Omicron Pi as International Vice President–Finance is both a privilege and a joy. Every day, I am reminded of the trust placed in me to help guide our Fraternity’s financial future. Alongside this role, I also serve as Treasurer of the AOII Properties Board and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. Managing these positions allows me to ensure our resources are handled with care, vision, and respect for the principles that define us.

Recently, our Executive Board gathered at International Headquarters for our first in-person meeting of the biennium—and my first in this role. There is something truly special about coming together face-to-face. The energy in the room was palpable, and it was inspiring to see the passion and dedication that unite us all. Our agenda was ambitious, reflecting the breadth of our responsibilities, but it was our shared commitment to AOII’s future that made the experience so meaningful.

We began with an investment review led by our trusted investment partner whose insights into our portfolios sparked thoughtful conversations about strategy, asset allocation, and how we can maximize growth while maintaining careful oversight. These discussions reinforced how vital strong financial stewardship is as we build a sustainable future for AOII.

Beyond the numbers, we also focused on governance and long-term planning. We reviewed the Nominating Trustee Report, which offered valuable insights into our election processes and board development. In alignment with our policy governance model, we examined several monitoring reports—specifically those related to executive limitations and organizational goals. These reports help ensure our leadership remains transparent, accountable, and aligned with our strategic vision. Of course, some decisions are especially tough. This meeting included the difficult choice to close two collegiate chapters. When I accepted this role, I knew moments like these would weigh heavily on me—and they do. The emotional impact of voting to close a chapter is profound. Yet, the careful consideration by the Board reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring our members have a positive membership experience.

As part of our continued board development, our General Counsel led a review of the relevant legal precedents impacting women’s Fraternities. This informed a thoughtful, forward-looking discussion on the evolving landscape of the rights and privileges we have to select our own members. We explored two case studies that helped frame conversations about inclusion, governance, and the potential implications for AOII. It was a meaningful and reflective way to close our meeting.

Looking back on my first in-person meeting, I feel both humbled and energized by the scope of our work and the impact we can have together. As we look to the future, I invite each of you to join us in leading with purpose. Together, we will continue building a Fraternity that honors our values, supports our members, and stands strong for years to come.
